This two-volume scrapbook of 19th century animal photographs remains somewhat of a mystery, We do not hold any records of who compiled the books, or how they came to reside in our collections. All we know is that the photographs feature a wide variety of animals, including rhinoceros, elephant, fox, big cats, chimpanzee, bear, camel, tiger, lion, oxen, cow, zebra. Most photographers are unknown but some photos are inscribed to Ottomar Anschutz, T. J. Dixon, A. Howard Benham, and Achille Quinet.
