The Library holds the fourth year of Georges Barbier’s Falbalas & fanfreluches almanac, published by Meynial in Paris in 1925. ‘Frills & flounces’ was published annually from 1922-1926. Each issue contained a diary and notes pages, with an introductory essay on the fashions of the days by well-known writers. Printed in photogravure and hand-coloured in stencil and watercolour on woven paper, each almanac contained 12 plates, one for each month. Fashionable Parisien ladies would consult the almanac each year for guidance on what would be fashionable for the following season.
