Since it was founded in 1847, the Glasgow School of Art’s Library has employed many designs of bookplate to designate ownership over its collections. Hardly anything is known about when these respective plates were used, or who designed them. The only piece of evidence we have is a note in the Governors’ Minutes of 22 January 1945 in which it is stated that “Designs by three students were submitted for a bookplate for the library books and the design of Miss Elizabeth Jamieson was selected. It was agreed that Miss Jamieson receive the sum of £5.5.0 for her design.”
